Marion Simon Welp, a beloved figure in the lives of many, passed away on February 1, 2025, in
Phoenix, Arizona. Born on July 9, 1938, in London, England, Marion's journey through life was
marked by exploration, compassion, and an unwavering spirit of love that touched
everyone who had the honor of knowing her.
Marion led a vibrant career, owning a travel service agency that allowed her to traverse the globe,
not only to support her clients but also to immerse herself in diverse cultures and languages. Her
love for travel and adventure was paralleled only by her entrepreneurial spirit, as she co-founded a
successful sports company with her husband and son, which
flourished until its sale in 1997.
Marion was more than a successful businesswoman; she was a beacon of kindness. She had an
innate ability to connect with people from all walks of life, displaying a special curiosity that made
every interaction meaningful. Her genuine interest in understanding the lifestyles
and backgrounds of others exemplified her empathetic nature.
In her personal life, Marion embodied the essence of unconditional love. She forged unbreakable
bonds with her family, creating an effortless and beautiful environment filled with happiness and
joy. Her selfless spirit radiated warmth and authenticity, leaving a profound impact on those
fortunate enough to share moments with her.
Marion is survived by her cherished family: her son, Philip Welp; her daughter, Madelaine Welp,
her daughter-in-law, Pam Welp; her beloved grandchildren, Cole and Emily Welp, her sister-in-
law Josay Laventhol, her brother-in- law Peter Jan Welp, and cousin Susy Norrmann.
She was predeceased by her husband of 32 years, Hans Welp, father of Philip and Madelaine. As
well as Roberto Di Stefano, her husband of 22 years both with whom she shared a remarkable life
filled with shared dreams and adventures.
As we remember Marion Simon Welp, let us carry forward her spirit of kindness, insatiable
curiosity, and the extraordinary love she so freely shared with the world. She will be dearly missed
but forever cherished in the hearts of her family and friends.
