Marjorie S Michaud

June 16, 1947 — September 24, 2024

Palm Bay, Fl

Marjorie Michaud (formerly Stevens), a loving wife, mother, and friend to many, passed away on September 24, 2024, at the age of 77, in the comfort of her home in Palm Bay, Florida. Her husband Ron, two sisters Honey and Jeanne, and her Niece Christina were by her side.

Marge was born on June 16, 1947, in Manhattan, New York to Robert and Jean (Munn) Stevens. She was one of six, with three brothers and two sisters. Marge graduated from Hendrick Hudson High School in Montrose, New York, and then attended Peekskill Business School. Marge began her professional journey at IBM, where she met Ronald “Ron” Michaud, her beloved husband of 55 years. After their first encounter at a party, she looked him up in the IBM database to make sure he was suitable to introduce to her parents. They married in 1968, and after a few years living in Peekskill, NY, they moved to Burlington, Vermont where they built their first home and raised two beautiful girls.

Ron and her shared many adventures, traveling with the girls all over the world. They spent a year in Germany in 1980 and had the opportunity to travel all over Europe. After many wonderful years in Vermont, Ron eventually had an opportunity to take a two-year assignment in Austin, Texas. While living in Austin, their eldest daughter gave birth to their first grandchild in 1989. In 1992, after sending their youngest daughter off to college, Marge left her job in Admissions at the University of Vermont and they moved back to Austin. In keeping with her need to stay busy and to grow, she took a job as a Sales Associate at Haverty’s furniture store, where she was one of their top associates. After many years in Austin, they moved to Dallas. When Ron retired in 2007, they moved to Palm Bay, Florida to be with Marge’s father and sisters. They spent their remaining years in Florida, but continued to travel and visit family, making the most out of their life together.

Marge loved being a mother and always put her children first. She enjoyed many hobbies, including playing mahjong and cards with her friends, cooking, and hosting dinner parties. She also loved swimming, tennis, skiing, and boating. But Marge is best known for her compassion and friendship. She made friends around the world, and always kept in close contact with them over the years.

Marge is survived by a loving family: her husband, Ron; daughters Michelle Putman and Lisa Adams; sons-in-law Michael Putman and Teddy Adams; grandchildren Justin Hoffman, Michael Michaud, Zoe Putman, Alexa Adams, and Chelsea Adams; great-grandson Liam Hoffman; siblings Jeanie Erichson and Honey Vanidestine; and numerous in-laws, nieces, and nephews who will miss her dearly. Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Jean Stevens; brothers Bruce, Peter, and Michael Stevens; and several beloved in-laws.

Marjorie Michaud lived a life of purpose, joy, and impact, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories that will forever resonate with those she touched. Her life was a shining example of devotion to family and community, and she will be profoundly missed by all.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Boston, Massachusetts.
