Mark Emil Rantala passed away peacefully on December 19, 2016 at Swedish Edmonds Hospital.
Mark was born on December 24, 1953 in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. He grew up in Minnesota, frequently living with his grandparents.
On Dec. 21, 1971, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea until he was discharged on March 29, 1977.
After the army, he spent more than 30 years driving long haul. He valued the friends that he made while he was driving. There were short breaks when he worked local jobs where he also made good friends. As his COPD and diabetes progressed and he was unable to drive or work, he still kept in touch with all the friends that he had made over the years.
Mark is survived by his sister Gwen I. Crockett. He was preceded in death by his father William Rantala and his mother Elaine A. Meade
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
