Marlene Anne Lundstrom Hayworth

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marlene Hayworth on July 20, 2025, at the age of 90. Marlene was known by all who loved her as a sweet, kind, and outgoing soul. Her warmth and friendliness made others feel instantly at ease, and she had a special way of bringing joy into any room she entered. Anyone who knew Marlene has vivid and joyful memories to cherish. She had a deep love for her family back home and her dogs were her children.

Marlene was the beloved wife of Hubert Hayworth for 50 years. They were two sides of the same coin, often negotiating terms to meet each other's needs. Their life was filled with laughter and compromise as they met the daily challenges of Marlene's mental health. Hubert was by her side through the last hours, a beautiful example of long-term enduring love.

Marlene was born in Rockford, Illinois on June 15, 1935 to Milt and Margaret Lundstrom. She graduated from Rockford East High School in the class of "54". She loved children and taught Kindergarten in the Rockford area for a time. She met her husband Hubert in El Paso Texas around 1965. She followed him to Florida, and later they moved to California where they lived in Tustin, (Orange County) for 25 years. When Hubert retired in 2000, they returned to Granbury Texas, Hubert's hometown.

In California Marlene worked as a secretary for MacDonald Douglas and Litten Industries, through the sixties and until her marriage to Hubert in 1975. Later she sold Aloe Vera juice through a direct marketing company and enjoyed talking with people as a sample server at Costco.

Marlene loved SHOPPING! She was a generous gift giver. The only thing more beautiful than the package wrapped by Marlene herself was the personally selected gift inside. Everyone looked forward to receiving a gift from “Marlene, Hubert, and their dogs by name”.

Marlene will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her. She leaves an empty space where her infectious enthusiasm for life had once been.

Marlene is pre-deceased by her parents, parents-in-law, and one brother. She is survived by her husband, Hubert; her brother-in-law, Donald Hayworth; her sister-in-law Pat Hewlett; and her nieces and nephews Lynn Belles, Jeffery Lundstrom, Denna Jones, Tim Hayworth, Kressie Taylor, Sherri Paul, Craig Hayworth, Kevin Hayworth and more than a few first cousins.

In honor of Marlene's love for animals, Memorials can be given to "Granbury Friends For Animals” a local no kill shelter. Donations can be mailed to: 2885 Fall Creek Hwy. Granbury, TX 76049
