Marlene L Koester (Peterson)

Marlene L. Koester (Peterson), age 89, of Alvin, Texas, formerly of New Windsor, Illinois, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, October 3, 2025. Per her wishes cremation rites will be accorded, private inurnment will be at Petrie Cemetery, New Windsor Illinois.

Marlene was born on November 11, 1935, to John and Grace (Anderson) Peterson. She was employed with Walgreens for many years, where she dedicated herself to her work until her retirement. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church of New Windsor, Illinois. Later in life, she relocated to Texas, where she enjoyed the life she built there.

Cherishing her memory are her children: Vicki (Keith) Bloomfield of Viola, Illinois; Kim (Pat) Sloan of Matherville, Illinois; and Terry (Tina) Barnes of New Windsor, Illinois. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Chad Bloomfield, Chris Sloan, Chelsey Sloan, Terry Barnes, and Tonya Antoine; fourteen great-grandchildren; her special companion, Vernon Dugan; and her dear friend, Betty Guzman.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Grace (Anderson) Peterson; her brother, Dean Peterson; and her granddaughter, Nicole Bloomfield.
