Mary passed away peacefully on May 14, 2026. She was born the youngest of four children in Hazleton, PA on April 23, 1941. Upon completion of High School, she attended St. Josephs School of Nursing in Reading, Pennsylvania and began her journey in pediatric nursing by commissioning in the Navy Nurse Corps. It was while serving at Balboa Naval Hospital in San Diego that she met her beloved husband, Thad. They were married for 57 years .
After the Navy, Mary continued her career as a pediatric nurse at Mercy hospital and eventually returned to Balboa Naval Hospital. She was known for her strong work ethic and compassionate care for over 42 years.
Mary was the anchor for her family. Her silent strength and strong will was the glue. She was our biggest cheerleader with the biggest heart. Always kind and thoughtful, she exemplified unconditional generosity and unconditional love. Her greatest joy was being “grandma.”
She is preceded in death by her parents, John B. and Mary Sabia, her siblings Grace, John, and Mauro and her husband, Raymond (Thad) Corcoran. She is survived by her children Donna-Muire (Geoff), Shaunna (Edward), and Erin (John) and grandchildren, Hayley, Nathan, Milo and Joshua.
Mary was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
She will be laid to rest along with her husband Raymond “Thad” Corcoran at Miramar National Cemetery on August 12, 2026.
