Mary E Johnson

Mary Johnson, a devoted servant of the Lord and cherished member of the Oceanside community, was called to her eternal home on April 10, 2024, at the age of 78. Her loving spirit is carried on by her husband of 60 years, Arthur Johnson, their four children, her adoring four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, and her faithful brothers. She now rejoins her mother, Bernarda Canales, and her siblings, Oscar Bullis and Savina Cruz, in the Kingdom of Heaven.
Mary's life was a testament to humility and kindness. Her heart, as open and vibrant as the crimson roses she adored, was a refuge for all who sought comfort and joy. She served with grace at the North Coast Church Childcare, embodying the love of Christ through her actions and ensuring that the light of faith shone brightly in the hearts of the little ones in her care.
Her garden was Mary's sanctuary where she tenderly nurtured God's creations, reflecting the beauty of nature and the Creator's grand design. The simple pleasure of feeling the sand between her toes reminded her of the vastness of God's love, a sentiment she embraced fully and shared generously.
Mary's life was an ode to the Lord's grandeur, spent in reverent celebration of His works. Each day was an opportunity to serve through her hands that prepared meals with love, her feet that carried her to dance in praise, and her voice that shared teachings and parables. Her pastimes-be it in the tranquility of prayerful movie watching, the joyous communion of country line dancing, or the meditative walks along the shoreline-were all carried out with a heart full of gratitude and worship.
In a humble request befitting Mary's giving nature, the family suggests that in place of flowers, donations be made in her honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, a reflection of her compassion for God's children and her desire to alleviate their earthly suffering. Mary Johnson's legacy is one of unwavering faith, boundless love, and a respect for all of God's creation. As she is welcomed into the arms of the Savior, she leaves behind a community richer for her presence and a family blessed by her enduring spirit. Her passage from this life to the next is not an end, but a continuation of her glorious journey in the everlasting embrace of our Lord.
