Mary Katherine Taylor Mary K. passed away peacefully on Sept. 29th, 2012 at the age of 85. This remarkable lady was born in Niagara Falls, NY in 1926 to William and Amy Joy. She grew up in St. Catherines, Ontario, spending her youth at her beloved '''YMCA''?, and her summers at Camp Wa-Sa-Ah-Bun, on Georgian Bay. Mary K enlisted in the U. S. Air Force at 23 years old and became a recruiter. She met her husband Major Llewellyn Taylor while on duty in Phoenix, Arizona, he was a fighter pilot who would go on to fly 100 missions in Korea. Major Taylor died in 1977 of a service-related disability. Mary K'?s greatest accomplishment, besides raising her family, was to spend 50 years teaching children to swim, while in Portland she taught at Reynolds Pool and David Douglas H. S. Mary K. was also a very talented knitter and quilter who became a member of the '''Thread Benders''? quilting club in Portland. Survivors include her daughters Elizabeth Church (Scott), Tracy Chosa (Carl) and son Brian Taylor (Claudia), and her four precious grandchildren, Justin, Harper, Emily and Sam. She is also survived by two sisters Beth Ann Martin and Barbara Davidson, both of Toronto, Ontario, and many special nieces and nephews. Mary K'?s last days were spend living at Harmony Guest Home, and her family is very grateful for the loving care and support they provided. A family celebration of her life will be held in Newport, OR. We will miss you so much mom, but we are happy you are now at peace.
