SSGT USMC Melvin (Mel) Logan
Born December 30th, 1931, in Prairie Township, White County, Illinois, USA and passed on June 24th 2020, San Marcos, San Diego County, California USA
Loving Husband of 62 years to Gerda Logan (nee Groiss)
Mel served proudly 20 years active duty in the US Marines, with another ten served in the Marine Corps Reserves, for a total of 30 years dedicated to the US Marine Corps. He saw duty in Vietnam, Okinawa, going to places his family could not follow, and though they did go when he served at El Toro Marine Base, he lived over 60 years in San Diego County which he came to call home.
Survived by sister Virginia "Ginny" Andry. Preceded from this life by his brothers and sisters, John "Jack" A Logan, Ermine "Erma" Logan Clifford, Mary Lena "Lena" Logan Vaupel and Franklin Mitchell "Mitch" Logan.
Mel was a loving and devoted father to his four children: Julia Logan Newbern, Stephen Logan, John and his wife, Carolyn Logan, Richard and his wife, Tricia Logan.
A proud Grandfather to David Newbern, Krysta Newbern Donaghue and her husband, Mark, Erik Newbern and his wife, Chelsea, Jonathan Newbern, Ryan Conley-Logan, Jason Conley-Logan, Kristopher Logan, Brittany Logan, Joshua Logan, Sean Logan, Ayden Logan and Reagan Logan, and blessed with his great-grandchildren, Hailey Donaghue, Juliana Donaghue, Mark Donaghue Jr, Riley Newbern, Olivia Donaghue Wilkey, Colin Donaghue and Kaitlin Donaghue.
Mel was very fond of cat-fishing and would travel from California to Evansville, Indiana to enjoy time with his family and partake in his favorite pastime.

Melvin will be sadly missed and forever in the hearts of family and friends. Semper Fi Marine - Till Valhalla.
