Meta Rose Bramer Bare died on May 6, 2013 surrounded by her family. Beloved wife of Joseph (Joe) Bare; adored mother of Marguerite Dougherty, David, Randy, John and Robert; grandmother of Laura Bare Torrez, Elanor Dougherty, Jonathan Bare, Alexander Bare, Timothy Bare, Michael Bare and Sophia Bare. Great-grandmother of Nathan Aaron Torrez and Meta Carolyn Bare. The granddaughter of German and Alsatian immigrants, Meta was born in Lyons, NY, on January 16, 1926. She was the youngest child of William J. Bramer and Magdelena Clausz Bramer. She was deeply loved by her older brothers Harold and Irvin and her sister Viola who predeceased her. After graduating from Lyons High School, Meta moved to Rochester New York where she met and fell in love with her beloved Joe. They were married on Christmas Day 1947 after his first semester at Harvard Law School. Meta was an expert legal secretary and worked tirelessly to support Joe through 3 years at Harvard. In 1950 they moved to Frankfurt, Germany where both worked for the Allied High Commission Relocating to San Francisco in 1953, they settled in Mill Valley in 1955. Meta became a fixture in the Mill Valley community. She was a beloved mom to her five children and an extraordinary volunteer with many organizations in Mill Valley and beyond. She was a long time member of the Community Church in Mill Valley, the Outdoor Art Club and was an honorary life member of the Mill Valley Tennis Club. She was famous around town for '''Meta'?s muffins''? but mostly for the deep life-long friendships she formed and for the love she shared with so many. As one of her friends put it: '''There are no words to describe her, a complete friend for so many years, to so many. She is my inspiration, brings a smile to my face and a skipped beat in my heart when I think of her.''? Friends are invited to join the Bare family and '''Meta'?s friends'? at a Memorial Service on July 21, 2013 at 2:00 at the Community Church of Mill Valley. The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall immediately after the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Meta'?s name to the Community Church, 8 Olive Street, Mill Valley CA 94941.
