Michael Wayne Sisson

Michael Wayne Sisson, 76, of Chandler, Arizona, passed away peacefully at his home on August 26, 2025. He was born March 9, 1949, in Saint Louis, Missouri, to the late Guy E. and Bettie (née Shaw) Sisson.

Michael served in the U.S. Army with the Army Security Agency in the Aleutian Islands and at Fort Huachuca, Arizona, where he met his wife, Bonnie (née Hammond). They married in 1972 and shared 53 years together. He joined the Belleville Police Department, serving for 25 years until his retirement in 1999. Then they returned to Fort Huachuca where he worked as an inspector for a government contractor before settling in Phoenix to be near his grandchildren.

He enjoyed woodworking— “piddling in the shed”—along with reading and watching history documentaries. Michael was known for his irreverent sense of humor, hearty laugh, and work ethic providing for his family.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; his sister, Michele Moore (Charles); six children: Thor Sisson (Kim), RaLynne Rhymer (Tim), Dallas Sisson (Nathan Sisson-Coleman), Gavin Sisson (Andrew), Macee Tillman (TJ), and Ceirra Child (Brandon); sixteen grandchildren: Kate Logan, Kevin Logan (Krista), Jill Sisson, Joe Smith, Gus Rhymer, Joran Coleman, Aryth Coleman, Moiraine Coleman, Aiden Tillman, Millie Tillman, Brooklyn Tillman, Dartanyon Child, Orion Child, Sullivan Child, Webster Child, and Franklin Child; and one great-grandchild, Giovanni Coleman. He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson, Tristan Coleman.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 650 South Cooper Road, Chandler, Arizona.
