Michael Dean Titus, affectionately known to all as "Mike," the undisputed "cool dad," "cool uncle," "cool brother,” and “cool grandpa/papa,” aka. “Bond, James Bond,” left this world on January 24, 2026, in Marble Falls, Texas, at the age of 67. Born on February 6, 1958, in Liberal, Kansas, Mike lived a life full of adventure, hard work, and enough one-liners to fill a comedy special, always ready with a line that could turn any frown upside down.
Growing up in Liberal, Kansas, Mike's spirit of curiosity and grit was evident early on. After high school, he married, Debra Bowman, and moved to Kansas City, KS. where their daughter Misty was born. Shortly after he dove headfirst into oilfield world, which took them to Liberal, KS. where his son Brandon was born and then to Big Lake, TX., where the family settled in nearby San Angelo, TX. But Mike wasn't one to stay in one lane, literally. A few years later, he traded the oil rigs for the open road, becoming a long-haul truck driver who crisscrossed the country like a real-life Sylvester Stallone in "Over the Top," minus the arm-wrestling (though we're sure he could've won that too). After two decades of logging miles and collecting stories, he circled back to his oilfield roots, where his unmatched knowledge and charisma helped launch his son's startup company into success. Working alongside his kids and friends, that was Mike's dream come true!
When he wasn't outworking everyone around him (and trust us, no one could keep up), Mike pursued his passions with the enthusiasm of a kid in a candy store. He revved up motorcycles and fast cars, cast fishing lines, swung clubs on the golf course, bowled strikes, nailed darts, dominated washers, and geeked out over rockets and space dreaming of being the first person on Mars. Mike never met a stranger; his warmth turned acquaintances into friends in minutes, and his wit? Legendary. With a mile-long list of zingers, he could lighten any load, even in tough times. Never a dull moment around Mike Titus.
Mike's five-year battle with cancer was fought with the same tenacity he brought to everything, but in the end, he was surrounded by love in his final days. His two children, their spouses, and his beloved grandchildren by his side. His daughter Misty and son Brandon held his hand as he peacefully stepped into eternity, knowing Jesus as his Lord and Savior, ready to reunite with loved ones who'd gone before him, perhaps cracking jokes all the way to the pearly gates.
Mike leaves behind a legacy of laughter and love, survived by his daughter Misty Smith and son-in-law Scott; son Brandon Titus and daughter-in-law Gabrielle; grandchildren Morgan, Sawyer, Kaitlyn, Brooklyn, Liliana, Olivia, Zoey, Michael, and Brandon; father Avon Titus; brother Raymond Titus and sister-in-law Patricia, and brother William Titus; sister Dedra Titus; uncle Marvin Titus, Uncle Ben Titus (Laura), niece Tyrah; nephew Russell; cousins Sherrie Rowe, George (Butch) Mead, Mary Dowling, Linda McGill (Stan), Nalina Clinesmith (Otis), James Mead, Tammie Thronesberry, a number of other cousins, ex-wives Debbie Jackson and Tammie Smith, and a host of dedicated friends, including Dave Hardy, Kim Hobbs, Virgel Poe, Dexter Pritchett, DJ Pritchett, Eric Dorsey, Scott Smith, Mike Gonzales, Rodney Williford, Blake McKee, Gilbert Velez, Max Velez, Lanze Velez, Guy Velez, Ruben Solis, Mike Hatfield, and Dustin Terrell, all who stood by him through thick and thin.
He is proceeded in death by his mother Karen (Forbes) Titus, Grandparents Dorton & Mary Forbes, Grandfather McKinley Titus, and his beloved dog Thor.
