Michael Robert Zabel

Michael (Mike) Robert Zabel, beloved husband, son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend unexpectedly went to heaven to be with his LORD and Savior Jesus Christ, early Sunday morning, August 30, 2026 at his home in Mesquite, TX at the age of 64.

Mike is survived by his wife,Grace, of 40 years; Dad, Donald Zabel; children: Jonathan, Alex (Virginia), Isabel (Paul), and Noel. Grandson, Isaiah. Sister Denise (Pete/deceased), nephew Luke, niece Kelsey. Sister in law Mercy [Jerry and children Melody(Anand), Moriah (Thomas), and James], brother in law Charlie (Cynthia).

Mike was preceded in death by his mother Kathy, brother in law Pete, father and mother in law Glorioso and Liberty Mijares and sister in law Joy M. Sarceno.

Mike was born at the Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, Minnesota on April 25, 1962. Mike went to Highland Park High School in St. Paul, Minnesota. Sometime in middle school and high school, he tinckered with technology and built his own computer. He went to Texas to study computer engineering at Le Tourneau University. He only lasted two years because he and his friends know more about computers than their teachers and he got an offer he can’t refuse working with computers in Dallas.

He’s been known to say that he came to Texas as soon as he can so he can be a Texan. He’s got a Naturalized Texan Certificate. And he said that his kids will be native born Texans. And they are.

His pastor in Longview encouraged him to go and attend First Baptist Church in Dallas. And that’s where he met his wife Grace, in the Singles Sunday School. Dr. W. A. Criswell, the pastor of First Baptist Dallas, officiated their wedding ceremony.

Mike worked at TH Enterprises for many many years. He was really good in trouble shooting computer problems. And was sent all over U.S. to fix the computer problems of TH customers.

Mike’s work with TH was sandwiched by Mike working at Criswell College, where he started their computer lab and taught computer classes there. After several years, Mike went back to working with TH Enterprises again.

In 2001, Mike started his own computer company and went to his first customer same day as 9-11. Mike continued working with computers until he can’t anymore because of health issues. Even then, he continued helping family members with their computer problems whenever he can.

A memorial service will be held at 2 pm, Saturday, October 17, 2026 at The Park Christian Community Church in Mesquite, TX. The service will be Live-streamed.
