Mildred Marie Medlin

Mildred Marie Buoy Albright Medlin died at the age of 91 at 9:29 PM PST on Monday May 24th 2021.

Millie was born to Jessie and Robert Lloyd Buoy on February 27th, 1930 in LaSalle, Colorado. She was one of 6 kids who moved from Colorado to Washington during the Great Depression. She is survived by her baby sister Virginia McDonald.

Our Mom is also survived by her 6 kids, 5 of whom she had in 5 years. They are Carl Eric, Guy Lamont, Karen Shawndell, Sandra Gay and Deana Marie. Then 10 years later, Michele Marie came along to the disappointment of the first 5. JK. She also had 13 grandkids and 13 great grandkids.

She was a pediatric nurse practitioner who started as a candy striper when she was 15. She went to Deaconess School of Nursing in Spokane, WA from 1948 - 1951. She stopped nursing when she was in her 80's after working with the Oregon Outdoor Schools. The bulk of her career was spent working with different tribes of Native Americans in Oregon, Alaska, New Mexico, Montana and Nevada. She was the Vice President of the AFGE union in Ft. Lewis, WA and lost her position there because of her eternal fight for the rights of others. She was given the nickname of Duck when she was in her last years of working because of her love of the Oregon Ducks.

She had two marriages that both ended in divorce and she got the last laugh by outliving them both. Mom may have not been able to pick men but, well, you can't be good at everything and she was an incredible nurse who had a great laugh.

Mom was complicated as all people are but in the end what we are choosing to remember is that she loved us, Jesus and her church.

In her last year, her daughter Sandy took great care of her and when she died her kids gathered as they could. She left this world listening to her daughter Michele singing "Over the Rainbow" as she drew her last breaths with her son Guy watching on.

If you want to do anything in memory of our Mom, please adopt a dog or a cat. She really loved animals.
