Noelle Elizabeth Batiste was born on August 23, 1978. She was adopted by Ronald and Anne Batiste when she was only 3 months old. They knew she was their daughter from the moment that they saw that big bright smile. She was their only child.
She went to a private school named Cambridge and later Stancliff, which was an elementary and a junior high school. There she studied the violin. At age 10 she won her first of 15 Blue Ribbons for Art at the Los Angeles County Fair. In 1990 as a 6th grader, she took Art classes at Pasadena City College. Then in 1991 as a 7th grader, she won a scholarship to Art Center High School Program. She went to Sacred Heart High School for a little while, and then later she went to John Muir High School where she studied Spanish and French. She was also a cheerleader.
In high school, she studied Direct Marketing, which led to her being interested in Business. So when she graduated in 1996 from John Muir High, she got accepted to Howard University in Washington D.C. majoring in Art and Business, with the intention of becoming an Art Museum Curator. In addition to that, she was always interested in music and dancing. She was even a Soul Train dancer for a little while.
In 2009 she received her Bachelor of Art degree in Business from the University of Phoenix. Coincidentally, her and her father received degrees on the same day. In 2011 she earned her Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Phoenix. Later, she became a manager at Macy's, Dominos Pizza, and an Assistant Manager at Neighborhood Cafe'.
In 2014 she became a licensed barber. She worked at Sports Clips, Luke Walker's Barber & Beauty, Floyd's 99 Barbershop, and others. There she was able to express her artistic talent in hairstyles and haircuts. She truly was a very accomplished young lady!
But her greatest accomplishment was on July 25, 2021, when she symbolized her dedication to her God Jehovah and was baptized after studying the Bible for some time. She even had a few of her own Bible students at her baptism. Since then, she Auxiliary Pioneered where she spent anywhere from 15-30 hours a month in preaching and teaching others about the Bible. Although she was a little shy about it at first, she eventually joined the Life and Ministry School where she was able to excel in her assignments. Noelle conducted a few progressive Bible studies, all to Jehovah's praise and honor. It was so easy for her to strike up a conversation with someone informally and then offer them a Bible study. She was determined to do all she could to serve Jehovah.
Even when her health was not the best, she always tried to make it to the meetings in person or at the very least, on Zoom. Noelle loved the color blue, and sometimes when she had the time, she would go to Descanso Gardens to relax and peacefully paint. She really enjoyed painting as a hobby. She also enjoyed gardening, which she was very good at. She planted lots of flowers and arranged them in a beautiful way. Noelle liked to listen to motivational speakers, which always kept her pumped, fired up, and ready to go! She was always taking care of business and was a hard worker. She liked comedy, which made sense because she had a very funny and lively personality, she was always cracking jokes and making somebody laugh. She loved gourmet foods and recipes. She was really good at making zucchini bread.
A feature that Noelle was known for was her big beautiful smile with her pretty white teeth. We will all definitely miss that smile!
Noelle had a long-time diagnosis of cancer and underwent various treatments, including chemotherapy, but she still did not let that stop her desire for life, and did not allow that to slow her down. She did an excellent job taking care of her parents, especially her mother, sometimes even sacrificing her own care to help out.
She succumbed to the enemy death on January 25, 2025. She will be remembered for being a strong, assertive, funny, determined, spiritual-minded young woman. She will be truly missed by her family and friends. She was confident that she would be healthy again in God's new world. And we all cannot wait to see her again when she wakes up healthy in that beautiful paradise earth.
She is survived by her mother, Anne, her father, Ron, her paternal aunts Candace Batiste Selwyn, Karen Lauren Batiste, and Janet D Batiste, her maternal aunts Hermena Vanderhorst, Harriette Vanderhorst Balik, Reneé Vanderhorst Robinson, and maternal uncle Robert Henry Vanderhorst, and a host of first and second cousins and friends.
