Patrick A. Clancy, of San Diego, CA, passed away on September 27, 2016 in San Diego. He will reunite in the Heavens with his late beloved wife Teresa L. Clancy.
His remarkable and, yet simple life will forever be cherished in the lives of his surviving daughters: Dolores Clancy and Patricia Clancy. He leaves behind three loving grandchildren: Nataly Heredia, Angel Heredia, and Ariana Cruz and many close family and friends.
He is the oldest with surviving twin sisters: Michelle B. Clark and Mary M. Kreutz who are six years younger. He leaves behind two nephews: Billy Mead and Casey Clark and four nieces: MaryBeth Shearin, JoAnne Carpenter, Katie Clark and the late Kathleen Bentley.
In his early years, he lived in Orange County and attended Holy Family Catholic School from elementary to the eighth grade. At age 15, he started driving and had his first job as a car washer. The movie, "American Graffiti," as he explains depicted the fun and carefree life he lived as a teenager. In 1961, he graduated from Orange High School, later attending Fullerton Junior College for his Associate Degree in Arts in 1963. He had a passion for drafting and engineering and pursued it as a career. During his youth, he enjoyed outdoors and spending time with his friends, especially Larry and Greg, who would call themselves "The Three Musketeers". Patrick, Larry, and Greg continued their friendship throughout life, keeping in touch, becoming lifelong friends.
In his early twenty's, Patrick took on various drafting/engineering job assignments for periods at a time; providing himself the flexibility to pursue his passions in travel. He ventured throughout Western Europe, Central America, and Mexico, where he thrived for adventure and exploration. Prior to his trip to Europe, Patrick ordered and bought a Volkswagen Bug from a car manufacturing plant in Germany and once he arrived, picked up his brand-spanking new car and drove 30,000 miles all around Western Europe in the three months he was there. What an amazing adventure he must have had. In 1968, he proudly attended the Summer Olympics in Mexico City, witnessing some of the world records still held today. In 1971, in Mexico, he met a beautiful woman, Teresa Lomeli Garcia. Within a year, their love flourished and she became his bride. Unfortunately, life took an unexpected turn, and Teresa passed away in 1996, after 24 years of marriage. He always said that was the greatest pain of his life and loved her dearly. With strength and a vitality to live life fully, he continued to travel and sightsee via road trips, visiting family and friends along the way. He worked for Cubic Corporation in San Diego for 25+ years as a Senior Electrical Engineer, retiring at the age of 59. In 2001, Patrick was blessed again when he reunited with his ex-coworker and friend, Pamela Brock. Their relationship blossomed and they became loving companions. Their love was great and Pamela brought renewed joy and love back into Patrick's world. They remained romantically in love till his death.
Patrick was truly a man of great strength, courage, intelligence, responsibility, integrity, and principle. Most of all, he was a man of impressive discipline. He lived a structured and simple life and always impressed the importance of "Keeping it Simple" in life. He was greatly admired and loved by many. He was man with a "hard" appearing exterior, but internally, he was amazingly genuine and had a beautiful heart. For his daughters, he was a great inspiration.
He will be deeply loved and missed. A memorial service will be held in his honor on Saturday, October 22 to celebrate his extraordinary life.
