Paul Daniel Ayres of Deer Park, Washington, transferred to Heaven on Monday, October 22, 2018. He was 88 years old, born on September 30, 1930, to Elmer David and Luella Savedge Ayres in Deer Park, Maryland. He is preceded in death by his wife Nina Gwynn Ayres, and six brothers: David S. Ayres, John Ayres, Lew Ayres, Vic Ayres, and Harold Ayres.
Paul had a lifelong love of camping and hiking with his wife in the wild mountain places, always in awe of the beauty of God's creation. He was a US Army veteran, having served from 1950 - 1952. He was a pastor for 40 years, ministering the Gospel of Jesus Christ, encouraging people, visiting and praying with the sick, mentoring, and serving others. Paul spent his last years attending Lakeside Nazarene Church, and living at Crowley Farm, near Deer Park, where he spent much of his time writing poetry and traveling with his little dog Tiger.
He is survived by his only daughter Alyssa Starr and her husband Robert, of Washington; his grandson Michael of Washington; his granddaughter Amy Prince, her husband Zach, and their sons Jacob and Jaxson, all of Colorado; his granddaughter Melissa Ho, her husband Chris, and their sons Darynn and Caleb, all of Washington; one brother, Vaughn Ayres of Texas; and a son of his heart, Mike Evans of Virginia.
He was loved and will be missed by many friends and relatives who were blessed by his influence in their lives. He lives on in the hearts of congregations in Cody, Wyoming; Columbus, Indiana; Sheffield, Alabama; Atkins, Virginia; Hickory, North Carolina; Cañon City, Colorado; Tyler, Texas; Durango, Colorado; and Wiley, Colorado.
