Paul David Curry

Paul David Curry of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully with

his family by his side on July 3, 2026 at the age of 68 after a six -

month fight against liver and lung cancer.

He is survived by his wife of 42 ½ years, Laurie and his three boys:

Robert (Madeline), Matthew (Charity), and Timothy, 5

grandchildren: Katie, Joshua, Sebastian, Jameson, and Henry; his

sister Donna Dees (Larry) and brother Mark (Yunah) and numerous

nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father in

2013 and his mother in 2020.

He was born in Freeport, Texas on August 19, 1957, to Donald and

Katherine Curry. His family moved to the Netherlands in 1965 and

lived in The Hague for 7 years. During that time they moved to

and lived in Rome for 7 months. They made the most of their time

overseas travelling extensively which sparked Paul's lifelong

passion for exploring the world.

They returned to the States in 1973. Paul graduated from Dulles

High School in 1975. He then attended the University of Texas at

Austin for two years.

He began his 40+ year career in Oil & Gas as a Mud Engineer

working 28 on/28 off. This took him to Pecos, Texas, Bakersfield,

California, Tanzania, and Cairo. He later became an Engineering

Analyst working for numerous oil and gas companies.

Paul became interested in God’s church in 1981/82 when he

picked up a Plain Truth in the Austin airport. He ordered every

piece of literature published and greatly anticipated their arrival.

He began attending the Worldwide Church of God in 1982. He

spent his first Feast of Tabernacles camping in Big Sandy with

David Douglas and Brian White. He was baptized by John Ogwyn

on January 15, 1983.

He married Laurie Douglas on December 17, 1983. Together they

had three sons: Robert Douglas (1986), Matthew David (1989),

and Timothy Paul (1992).

Paul enjoyed traveling internationally and was blessed to go to

many countries for the Feast. In the states, he enjoyed hiking and

photographing the National Parks of Utah. He also enjoyed

photography and golf, even though he’d say he was horrible at it.

He enjoyed history, especially military history. He was an avid

runner for many years running in countless 10k races around

Texas. He also had a love for Jerry Garcia and the Grateful Dead.

He was a devoted husband, father, brother, and “Poppy” and will

be sorely missed
