Peggy Joan Eckert

It is with great sadness and sorrow that we announce the unexpected sudden passing of our mother, Peggy Eckert.

Peggy Joan Eckert, of Mary Esther Florida, passed away on June 23, 2022, at the age of 67.  She was born on February 22, 1955 in Joliet, IL to William Mulcahy and Joan Benedict.  She became widowed to the love of her life of 45 plus years, C. Ross Eckert Jr., in November 2021, and she missed him dearly.  She was currently retired and loved the beach, as well as traveling to see her children, grandchildren, and countless friends.

Peggy loved with all of her heart and touched the lives of so many.  She overcame many obstacles throughout her entire life, and never let negativity dim her light.  She was adventurous, spontaneous, and made the best of every situation.  Peggy will be fondly remembered as a truthful, strong woman and loving mother.  Her genuine beautiful smile and her ability to make us laugh will be forever missed.

Peggy attended St. Patrick's grade school and graduated from St. Francis High School.  She went on to attend Joliet Junior College for nursing.  After becoming a caring home health nurse, she worked for local hospitals and doctor offices.  Before moving to Florida, she pursued a certification as a professional dog groomer.  Her career allowed her heart to be seen not just by her family, but everyone and everything she cared for.  She was even awarded a plaque as a dog whisperer for her caring touch and ability to calm any dog.

Peggy is survived by her beloved children, Colin Ross Eckert III, and Katerina M. (Chris) Wessels, as well as her adoring grandchildren, Kayli and Samara Eckert, and Brianna and Jaxon Wessels.

Peggy's wishes were to be cremated and forever united with her late husband (C. Ross Eckert Jr.). A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
