Phil was born in Rochester, NY to Evelyn and Joseph Ganter. The family moved to the Atlanta GA, area where he lived earlier years of his life. He joined the Navy in 1964, serving in the Vietnam war.. He spent a few years as a fireman in DeKalb County Ga, and attended Georgia Tech before moving to Washington state in the late 1970's.The majority of his career was as a boiler machinery inspector. He later became Chief of Maintenance for the Marriott Inns before retiring in 2005.
Phil leaves behind his love of his life, best friend and wife Kathy Ganter, children Latisha Sinclair (Paul) Michael Ganter IAmy) Chistopher Ganter, Karey Hinkson, Amy Rasmussen, Ryan Hinkson (Gail) sister Lois Heckethorn (Lynn) brother Larry Ganter (Amy) 10 grandchildren, various nieces, nephews, cousins along with his many friends.
Phil lived everyday to its fullest, never worrying about tomorrow. His devilish little boy grin left all wondering what that mind of his was thinking. He is now toasting with the greats and enjoying eternal happy hour in Heaven. Fly high and rest easy, Phil. We love you.
A celebration of Phil's life will be held at the Hangar Inn in Puyallup on June 25, 2016 at 3pm. He will be honored June 30, 2016 at 11:30am at Mt. Tahoma National Cemetery located at 18600 SE 240th Kent, WA 98042.
