Obituary of Phyllis Joan Jacobs McCall

Phyllis Joan (Jacobs) McCall, 89, passed away peacefully, October 4, 2017 surrounded by her family in Redwood City, CA. Phyllis was born June 20, 1928 in David City, Butler County, NE to Theodore Frank and Henrietta (Shields) Jacobs. She graduated from David City High School. On July 27, 1946 she married Harold Hugh McCall, also a Nebraska native.

After their marriage in 1946, Phyllis and Harold relocated to CA (Huntington Park and Downey) where they raised their children. In 1993 the couple moved to Snowflake, AZ, a dream of Harold's. After Harold's passing in 2001, Phyllis remained in Snowflake until 2007 when she found California calling once again. She made Elk Grove, CA her new home. In her later years she moved to Redwood City, CA to be closer to her daughter Sherry.

Phyllis was an avid reader, especially anything unabridged. Her passion was politics where she involved herself in the Republican Federated Women's Clubs in CA and AZ . She also took much pride in her activities with the town of Snowflake, AZ in many capacities. She was a true patriot and was a patriotic mentor to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Besides her love of books and music, she enjoyed car and horse racing. Let's just say she loved racing of all sorts. In fact she was known to drive like a race car driver.

Phyllis is survived by her children Sheryl Mallett of Redwood City, Ca., Linde (Richard) Carter of Greenehaven, AZ., Kevin McCall of Cameron Park, CA and Leslie McCall of Sierra Madre, CA., four grandchildren, Susan Carter Moresco, Richard Carter, Jr.(Caitlyn), Sara Mallett Leoni (Giovanni) and John Mallett (Rosanne). She was blessed with 12 great grandchildren, Riley and Carter Moresco, Emma, Kierstyn, Ava, Nicholas and Penelope Jane Carter; Joseph, Vincent, Marco, John and Luca Leoni.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents Theodore and Henrietta Jacobs, her husband Harold Hugh McCall, sister Evelyn (Jacobs) Jorgensen and brother Donald Joseph Jacobs.

Phyllis will be interred at Rose Hills Memorial Park, Whittier, CA with her husband. Memories may be shared at tributes.com.
