Quentin Harold Nelson

Quentin H. Nelson went peacefully home to his Lord and Savior on January 28, 2021. He was born on October 12, 1926 in Virginia, MN to Nels and Pearl Nelson. He grew up on a dairy farm and at the age of 17 enlisted in the navy. He was assigned to the USS Block Island until the end of WWII. After serving his country, and under the GI Bill, he attended the University of Minnesota. He was a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity and graduated with a degree in Dairy Plant Management. He married hometown girl Ardys Hawkinson and they soon moved to San Francisco, CA where he started a 35-year career with Foremost Dairies. He was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Cross in Laguna Niguel, CA.
Quentin was predeceased by his wife, Ardys, his parents and only sibling Len Nelson. He is survived by his 5 children Eric (Kelli), Kari Hagler (Bob), Jana Zonneveld (Frank), Kris Cahill (Rick) and Kyle (Caroline) His 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and sister-in-law, Jan Nelson of Gilbert, MN. He often said "My children are my joy".
One hightlight in his 80's, was joining other WWII vets participating in a Honor Flight to Washington DC. Quentin participated in the "90's Brain Study" through UC Irvine and after a study of his brain, will be interned at Riverside Memorial Cemetery.
