MSGT Randall "Randy" Erickson died peacefully at the Carl Hayden VA Medical Center Hospice, Phoenix AZ on December 27, 2018 after a long courageous battle with Agent Orange related trachea cancer. Randy was born in Seattle WA and resided in Lake Villa, Illinois until enlisting in the USAF. A local Goodyear, Arizona resident, A Veteran of the Vietnam and Desert Storm wars, serving honorable 1968-1992, a graduate of University of New Mexico and certified EMT.

During his military career, he was awarded Vietnam Service Medal, AF Commendation Medals, AF Outstanding Unit Award, AF Good Conduct, National Defense Service Medal With IBS, AF Overseas Short Tour Ribbon, AF Overseas Long Tour Ribbon w/ 3BOLC, Desert Storm and Desert Shield Ribbon, USAF Master Technician Award.

Randy was a brave and loyal Airman who loved his country, as well as a loving father and devoted grandfather. He married Cyndi Ness in Ipswich England, while stationed ar RAF Woodbridge with the 78th TFW, his first assignment after basic training and tech school.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Cynthia Ness-Erickson, daughter Heidi Erickson-Strahm (Jed), Son SGT Daniel Erickson USARMY (Amber), and Granddaughters, Tayla, Esperanza and Angelica, and his sister Cathy Crowley of Highland Park, Ill as well as his aunt and uncle CMSGT (Ret) Robert and Audrey Stewart Of Rapid City, SD and several inlaws, nieces, nephews and cousins both in the United States, and the U.K. He is preceded in death by his son, Matthew Randall, who died in infancy, and his parents Merle and Lorraine Erickson.

Services with Military Honors will be conducted Friday January 11, 2019

8:15 a.m. – Family and friends will be at the National Memorial Cemetery Visitor Center.
8:30 a.m. – Circle of Honor to honor Randy with family, friends and the Arizona Patriot Guard Riders.
8:45 a.m. – Procession to the designated shelter for military honors.
9:00 a.m. – Military Honors
Phoenix National Cemetery 23029 N Cave Creek Rd Phoenix, AZ 85024. In lieu of flowers the family request if anyone would like to contributions should be made in his memory to any one of the three charities listed that Randy supported.
