Richard (Dick) Burr, 85, of Melbourne, FL formerly from Gilpin, PA passed away on June 17, 2025 at home.

Richard was born in Pittsburgh, PA to Helen and Ralph Burr on October 20, 1939. He graduated from Brentwood High School in 1959. He retired from Alcoa Research & Development New Kensington in 1996 where he was issued a patent award for his work with chromatographic material. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served in the Navy where he earned the National Defense Service Medal.

He was a long-time member at Christ the King Parish, Leechburg, PA and a member of Ascension Catholic Church, Melbourne, Florida.

He enjoyed boating and had a camp at Kiski Campground for many years. Richard also enjoyed traveling and spending time with family.

Richard is preceded in death by parents Helen and Ralph Burr, wife Marylee (Dodds) Burr, daughter Shannon Darbaker (Dennis) and grandson Richard Darbaker.

He is survived by daughters Monica Tom (Daniel) from Orlando, FL and Rachel Weaver (Chad) from Melbourne, FL; brothers Ralph Burr of Roanoke, VA and Ron Burr of Pittsburgh, PA; five grandsons Dennis Darbaker, Bailey Darbaker, Nicholas Tom, Andrew Tom and Jacob Weaver.

A Christian Funeral Mass will be held at Christ the King Parrish, Leechburg, PA, on June 28, 2025 at 11:00 am. Internment will follow at St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Gilpin, PA.

The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Heath First Hospice Melbourne and the American Legion (Post 117). They would also like to thank Ascension Catholic Church Ministry of the Sick.
