Richard Arliss Graves



Born in South Woodstock, Vermont, Richard was the 4th of six children of Harold Graves and Emma Durrum.  Predeceased by his parents, sister, Norma Bywater, and brother, William Graves, Richard passed away in his sleep of complications related to dementia at San Jacinto Care Center, Hemet, California on March 23, 2014.  He is survived by siblings Harold Graves, Escondido, CA, Phillip Graves, Bumpass, Virginia, and Julienne Miller, Laurel, Delaware.





Richard attended Woodstock High School (Class of '52) and studied Business Management at University of Vermont, Burlington, VT.  In his spare time, he engaged in Summer Stock Theater at Weston Playhouse, Weston, VT.  He received a scholarship to Pasadena Playhouse, Pasadena, CA, where he studied acting and set design, and performed in several Playhouse productions while working as a bank teller in Pasadena.  He spent two years on active duty in the Army at Fort Polk, Louisiana, where he was assigned to the Finance division.





After his Army stint he spent the rest of his career working for several insurance and lending institutions performing risk assessments and safety inspections of industrial and domestic buildings and facilities in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, and San Diego counties.





Richard's engaging smile and sunny disposition will be missed by all who came to know him.  Interment at a later date will be in Pacific View Memorial Park, Corona Del Mar, CA.  No Services will be held.
