Richard Allen Holt

Richard Allen Holt (lovingly known as “Pops” by his children) was born on January 28, 1952 to John Holt Jr. and Georgeine (McCoulskey) Holt. He went home to be with the Lord September 5, 2024 in Longview, Texas. Richard was raised in Vivian, Louisiana and graduated from North Caddo High School. He then attended Louisiana Tech University and received a bachelor’s degree in professional aviation. He joined the United States Marine Corps as a pilot and later served in the Air Force. After the military he was a Deputy Fire Marshal for the city of Longview. He enjoyed flying planes and helicopters and had a great passion for teaching as a flight instructor. He loved the beauty of nature and God’s creatures. When he had a tune in his heart, he often shared it by whistling or singing out loud. Studying scripture was very important to him, and he looked forward to his Heavenly Home. Richard was a friend to many and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Angela (Holt) Carlson and her husband, Joel; son, Reese Holt and his wife, Ada; son, Taylor Holt and his wife, Keren; their mother, Marta Holt, along with six grandchildren; his brother, John Holt III and his wife, Edweda; sister-in-law Sally Holt and brother-in-law, Jackie Pullen. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Holt Jr. and Georgeine (McCoulskey) Holt-Robbins, his brother, Robert “Bob” Holt and his sister, Constance “Connie” Pullen.

There will be a funeral service on Monday, October 21 at 9:00am in the Perkins Chapel on the main campus of Woodland Hills Baptist Church, 2105 East Loop 281, Longview, TX 75605 with Pastor Charles Hunt officiating.
