Richard "Rick" Orvil Hussung, 72, of Oxnard, CA, was born July 26th 1944 in Floyd County, IN to Orvil and Rose Hussung. He died at home, March 4, 2017, due to complications of COPD.
Rick grew up in Lanesville, IN where he graduated from Lanesville High School. He joined the Navy, during the Vietnam Era, and was stationed at Point Mugu Naval Air Station in California where he repaired helicopters. Upon his honorable discharge from the Navy he was hired by Government Civil Service to work as an Electronic Technician in the Telemetry Department on San Nicholas Island. He remained working on San Nicholas for the next 30 years until his retirement.
Rick is preceded in death by his father Orvil Hussung, his grandparents William and Alma Hussung, Step Grandmother, Gertrude Hussung and Henry and Alberta Fachinger. He is survived by his mother Rose Hussung of Lanesville, IN, his brother Jerry, also of Lanesville, his wife of 40 years, Valerie, of Oxnard, CA, son William "Bill" of Huntington Beach, CA, daughters Lisa (Jonathan) Dings of Boulder, CO, and Annette (Rick) Boland of Louisville, KY, Grandchildren Madeleine and Max Dings of Boulder, CO.
In respect of Rick's wishes there will be no service. He will be interred in the Los Angeles National Cemetery with full Military Honors upon completion of the new Crematorium Wing.
