Richard Anthony Specksgoor, affectionately known as Rich, passed away on September 1, 2024, in Houston, Texas, at the age of 83. Born on June 18, 1941, in Rochester, New York, Rich was a devoted family man and a steadfast friend, who left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Rich's kind-hearted nature and sweet personality endeared him to many. He had a great sense of humor and loved sharing stories, especially with his four cherished grandchildren: Kirsten Huestis, Shelby Specksgoor, Sarah Specksgoor, and Tyler Specksgoor. These moments spent with family were some of his most treasured memories, showcasing the immense love he had for his family and friends.
Rich was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. His life was filled with wonderful experiences, including a passion for sports. He was an avid supporter of several teams, particularly the Buffalo Bills, Rochester Red Wings, New York Mets, and Rochester Americans.
One of his proudest accomplishments was coaching his son’s little league baseball team, where he relished teaching young players the fundamentals of the game, sharing his love for sports and nurturing the next generation.
Rich is survived by his beloved family, including his brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Margaret Specksgoor, and Dan and Barb Specksgoor; his son Scott and daughter-in-law Kim Specksgoor; his daughter Beth Specksgoor; many nieces and nephews; and his former spouses, Mary Ellen Florack (mother of his children) and Marilyn Specksgoor.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elizabeth Mayer and Anthony Specksgoor.
Rich's legacy will be fondly remembered by those close to him, who carry forward the warmth of his spirit and the joy he brought into their lives through his kindness, humor, and love for family. He will be deeply missed.
