Robert “Bob” L. Combs, 85, of Sebring, Florida, passed away at 2:06 a.m. on Friday, February 13, 2026, at HCA Florida Highlands Hospital in Sebring.

Bob was born on March 12, 1940, in Hammond, Indiana, to Russell and Mary (Bolin) Combs. He proudlyserved his country in the United States Army, a role that remained a meaningful source of pride throughout his life.

On August 24, 1963, he married Shirley J. Shrock, the love of his life, who preceded him in death on September 1, 2013. Together they built a life rooted in family, hard work, and lasting friendships.

Bob previously lived in Yorktown and Greentown, Indiana, before retiring and eventually making Sebring, Florida, his permanent home after spending several winters there. He worked at Marsh Supermarket, Westinghouse, and KMB Refrigeration, where he was known for his strong work ethic and reliability.

He was a man who found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. Bob loved to fish, grill, andsmoke his famous meats, always eager to share them with friends and neighbors. He was happiest when surrounded by those he cared about and was known for always cooking for othersand bringing people together. He spoke often and fondly of his many friends in Florida, and he was deeply loved by all who knew him.

Bob is survived by his sons, Donald L. Combs (Kerry Hornaday) and Keith A. Combs (Jamie); his grandchildren, Keiton (Shaylynn) Combs, Triston Combs, Rafe Combs, and Sydney Combs; and his great-granddaughter, Kyomi Combs. He is also survived by his sister, Earlene (Bob) Harvey; his brother, Russell Combs; his sister-in-law, Dee Combs; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and beloved wife, Bob was preceded in death by his brother, Bryan R. Combs, and his sister-in-law, Pat Combs.

Cremation has been entrusted to Smart Cremation & Memorial Park Funeral Home in St. Petersburg,Florida, and Shirley & Stout Funeral Home in Greentown, Indiana. Services will be held at a later date.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Bob’s friends and neighbors at DeSoto Park for their kind words, generous help, and the love that has been poured out to the family. Bob was cherished by many, and his warmth, generosity, and love for bringing people together will be remembered always.
