Rev. Robert Otto Faga was called home by his Lord and Savior on August 12, 2013, at the age of 83 with his wife by his side at their home. He was born in Audubon County, Iowa, on September 18, 1929. He is survived by his loving wife, Sonnie Jean nee Remmers of 58 years; 5 children, son David (Laurie), daughters Cynthia Ladd (Don), Rebecca Jarvis (Dave), Gayle Haller (Tim), and Marla Villani (Victor); 11 grandchildren, Jeremy Oehlert, Ryan Faga, Kelly Faga, Jared Haller, Sean Jarvis, Emma Haller, Kayla Villani, and Melody Villani, 3 by marriage, David Ladd, Katie Simas, and Dave Jarvis, Jr.; 6 great grandchildren; brothers Eldon (Angela), Paul (Joyce), and sister Doris, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Otto Carl Daniel and Martha Ellen Hocamp, brothers George and Donald, and sisters Clara and Jean.

Robert enjoyed growing up on the farm near Adair, Iowa. He graduated from Adair Iowa High School in 1948. He served 3 years in the Air Force, married his beloved wife on November 27, 1954, and graduated from Concordia Theological Seminary in Springfield, Illinois in 1961. He served 7 congregations across the Midwest and California for over 50 years. He was involved in Ongoing Ambassadors for Christ while in Iowa. After retiring in 1991, he served as interim pastor in 9 congregations in California in between traveling with Sonnie Jean in their motor home. They visited every state together, except for Alaska. Robert played the guitar and wrote many songs. He loved to sing and line dance. He also wrote 3 books, “Words of Jesus”, “Know What Faith Does”, and “Where has all the Power Gone?” which was published. He was a Dodger fan all of his life, and he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He so loved sharing his faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, whether in the ministry or in every day life. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend.
