Robert Michael Lavelle

May 9, 1940 — September 15, 2024

Palm Coast, Fl

It is with great sadness that the family of Robert Michael Lavelle announce his passing on September 15, 2024. Robert M. Lavelle as he loved to be called, will be sadly missed by his family and friends, Robert was 84 years old and passed in Palm Coast Florida where he called home for the last 30 years.

Son of Lillian G. Lavelle (Lanoce), and John K Lavelle, he was born May 09, 1940, in Queens, NY. Robert resided with his parents, brothers and sister in Smithtown NY. He attended school in Hauppauge and entered the Air Force in May 1957. Robert served as an Aircraft & Missile Electrical Mechanic; Robert was last stationed at Dow Air Force Base in Maine. He had an honorable discharge from the Air Force in 1963 and resided at home with his wife and two daughters in Smithtown NY. Robert continued working in the Aircraft industry for Grumman Aerospace in Calverton, NY. His favorite aircraft to work on was the F-14 Tomcat. Robert and his wife Rosemarie had another daughter in 1969. Robert traveled for work purposes over a period of many years, traveling with family to Virginia Beach, Maryland, Spain and California. He retired in 2007 in St. Augustine Florida from Northrop Grumman after an impressive 43-year career in the Aircraft industry.

He was preceded to heaven by his mother Lillian Lanoce and father John K Lavelle, and his brothers, Richard Lavelle, Raymond Lavelle and Sister Linda Haynes (Lavelle). He is survived by his wife Rosemarie Lavelle, brother John Lavelle, Robert was deeply beloved father of Laura Lavelle, Luanne Freda (Lavelle), Sharon Scott (Lavelle). Robert is survived by 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren and many cherished childhood friends, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

While we lost our most beloved dad, many have lost a friend and loved one in him. He has been a rock to many, a master at humor and witty timing to others, and even a glorious pain in the neck, to what I'm sure is a small select few (Mary, Julie & Kay), because no matter what happened between you in your lives, once you were marked as important to him, he'd be by your side if you needed him.

We invite you all to share pictures or memories. It was his wish that we laugh and reminisce and smile together during this time.
