Robert L. Taylor

Robert L. "Bob" Taylor, age 83 passed away at home surrounded by his loved ones on Thursday, August 14, 2014 from complications from strokes he suffered in September 2012 and COPD.  He was born on April 3, 1931 in Chicago.  He left home at 19 to join the United States Marine Corps in lieu of being drafted and serve during the Korean War.  Bob was fortunate to have found love twice in his lifetime, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary T. Taylor (nee Manning), they were married from October 1952 to March 1980.  Their legacy included four children Tom, Terry (Bill) Schneider, Debbie (Ed) Walker, and Sandy (Rick) Lange and six grandchildren Meg (Brandt) Zentner, Brian (Shari) Schneider, Jim Schneider, Don Walker, Daniel Walker, and Robbie Lange and four great-grandchildren Maddie and NIck Schneider, Connor and Kaedin Zentner.  Bob was survived by his second wife, Helene J. Taylor (nee Meyers) they were married in 1991 and enjoyed traveling the world and golfing year-round in California where they retired in 1999.  Bob was step-father to Dana Kenyon, Brent (Kelly) Kenyon and grandfather to Alex Kenyon and Gavin Cunningham.  A celebration of Bob's life will be held at Prince of Peace Church, 135 S. Milwaukee Avenue, Lake Villa, IL on Friday, August 22, 2014 at 10:00 am.  Following the services a gathering will be held at the Lange's home.  Donations can be made to his favorite charity, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
