Federal Way & Des Moines, Washington | Born in Toledo, Ohio
Robert G. Wetli, known affectionately as Bob, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2025, at Wesley Homes in Des Moines, WA. He was 89 years old.
Bob was born on April 1, 1935, in Toledo, Ohio, to Alfred and Amelia (Frank) Wetli. The youngest of four children, Bob grew up surrounded by a loving family who shaped his values of kindness, integrity, and humility—qualities he carried throughout his life. He earned a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Toledo and later moved to Seattle, WA, where he began a rewarding career with The Boeing Company. At Boeing, Bob applied his talents and problem-solving skills in the engineering department, finding great satisfaction in his work and pride in his contributions.
Bob was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He found his greatest joy in spending time with family and dear friends—whether sharing a meal and meaningful conversation or enjoying favorite pastimes like boating, fishing, golfing, and traveling. His gentle nature, quiet strength, and steady presence left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He was married to Virginia May (Ardner) for 64 years, and together they built a life full of love, laughter, and shared purpose. Bob is survived by his beloved wife Virginia; children Bradley (Kaye), Becky (Lori), and David; grandchildren Jennifer (Ken) Sutton, Daniel, Emily; and a great-grandchild. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who cherished their “Uncle Bob.” Bob was preceded in death by his parents and sisters; Dolores Gladieux, Mary Ann Joldrichsen, and Alice Carroll.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the dedicated and compassionate staff at Wesley Homes Health Center for the loving care they provided during Bob’s four-year residency.
