Ronald Hernandez Soto

My husband of 39 years peacefully left his earthly body and went to his house in heaven. There he received his eternal body made by God himself. He is whole. He is healed. He is free.

We were 16 when we fell in love. As my husband, partner and best friend, Ron loved, encouraged and made me laugh. He was a wonderful father to our daughter Erika Alejandra Mills, a friend to her husband Dan, and enjoyed the time spent with his grandsons, Shannon and Shane.

Ron was an honest, compassionate, gentle man. He treated everyone he met with respect, kindness, understanding and courtesy. He always looked at life in a positive light and did his best at every endeavor he undertook.

He had a successful and award winning hospitality career in Arizona spanning 32 years. He was a Food and Beverage Director, Comptroller and Assistant Manager before becoming a Manager. He was a strong believer in rolling up his sleeves in any department anytime it was necessary. At a minutes notice he became a front desk clerk, bartender, cook, housekeeper, maintenance tech or driver. In 2009, Ron was nominated by a hotel guest for Best Western's Heroic Hospitality Stars Award. The Best Western Tempe by the Mall that he managed achieved the top 20 percentile of Best Western's 2,400 North American properties in guest satisfaction, customer care and quality assurance. He was always thinking outside the box, always looking for ways to improve the quality of service hotel guests received. Ron worked for Hilton, Granada Royale (now Embassy Suites), Park Inn, Comfort Inn, Holiday Inn and Best Western. Before he got sick he had worked for Baseline Group, L.L.C. from 1986 to 1999 in Winslow and from 1999 to 2010 in Tempe.

Ron was preceded by his father Ruben Soto and sister Elizabeth Viera. He leaves behind his mother, Romelia Soto (Victor), brother Ruben Soto Jr., sister Barbara Rojas (Steven) of San Jose, California, sister Linda Soto (Bill) of Sewickley, Pennsylvania, and many nieces and nephews.
