Rosemarie H. Cohenour

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend Rosemarie Cohenour.

Rosemarie passed away on May 7, 2022, 23 short days after losing her eldest son Bryan Smalley.

Rosemarie was born on January 7, 1942, to George and Juliet (Torres) Hinzo. She spent her childhood growing up in National City, California. As an adult, Rosemarie lived in the beautiful state of Maryland around the Annapolis and DC area. She spent the remaining years of her life living in San Diego, California.

Rosemarie was a cosmetologist from 1961 to 2022. She was known for her work as a hair colorist, and her hair designs. She loved doing hair and makeup for wedding parties. Rosemarie also loved sailing, photography, and gardening. She was happiest spending time with her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Waiting for Rosemarie in Heaven, the day before Mother’s Day was her son Bryan Smalley, her mother Juliet Lemelle and her brother Richard Hinzo.

Rosemarie’s memory will live on in the hearts of daughter Julie (Em) Kahler, son Samuel (Carrie) Smalley and daughter-in-law Tina (Bryan) Smalley. Her grandchildren: Christine (Mitch) Schilling, Sam Smalley, James Smalley and Cameron Smalley. Great-grandchildren: Brooks Schilling and Nora Schilling. Dear nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2022, 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 12835 Black Mountain Road, San Diego, CA 92129.

The family would like to thank Dr. Marie Shieh who was her oncologist who helped her fight the battle against Leukemia for five years. Also Dr. Robert Vallone her podiatrist and friend who first noticed she was not healing so ordered extra tests that led to the diagnosis of Leukemia.

The family would also like to thank The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for her faith and The Jewish Family Services who both helped Rosemarie for many years.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Rosemarie Cohenour at: https://donate3.cancer.org/?campaign=honormemorialbutton&giftType=hon&_ga=2.102456001.1939412931.1653287783-1262598238.1653287783&_gac=1.16048898.1653287783.EAIaIQobChMInLX99YD19wIV0cLCBB0xAgkAEAAYASAAEgIUz_D_BwE
