Roy Erven Buckendorf, 75, of Bullhead City, AZ passed away Friday, January 24, 2025, at home surrounded by his family.

Roy was born January 13, 1950 in Greeley, CO to Donald S. Buckendorf and Phyllis J. (Valentine) Buckendorf. He was reared and educated at various schools in Weld County, CO before graduating from Farson Eden High School, WY in 1968. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps on July 9, 1968 and served until July 8, 1971.

He married his high school sweetheart, Sandra “Sandy” L. Murray, on July 12, 1970. They had two sons, Kirk W Buckendorf and Roy Eric Buckendorf. After the Marine Corps, he went to work for Cowen Concrete in Greeley, helped his dad work the Co-op in Briggsdale, Bestway Concreate and drove truck for Saunders Petroleum–all in Colorado.

When Roy moved to Bullhead City, AZ in 1990, he worked in the casinos across the river in Laughlin, NV for 18 years. After that, he and Sandy managed All Seasons Storage Needles, CA until his retirement in 2016.                        

He enjoyed classic cars, NASCAR, and DIY home renovations.

Roy is survived by his wife Sandy, his two sons, Kirk (wife: Grace) and Eric (fiancé: Sarah), his sisters, Pam (husband Ron) Yagaditch Eaton,Co, Connie (husband Dave) Parker Laramie,WY his brother Wilbur “Bill” Buckendorf, and numerous beloved family members.   He was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Phyllis Buckendorf, sister Judy (husband: Rudy) Schlotthauer, and his two brothers, Jack Lee and Donald Emmet “Tim” Buckendorf.

A celebration of life is being planned to take place in June of 2025 in both Farson, WY and Eaton or Greeley, CO. The final dates will be posted here when planning is complete.
