Royal Charles Seal was born to Henry Charles and Mary Alice Seal in Kansas on May 17, 1921. He passed away peacefully on January 7, 2019 at the age of 97. Royal graduated from Clay Center High School in 1939, then attended Kansas State from 1939 to 1941. He then spent 5 years in the Army. Royal and Irene Riggs were married on June 23, 1945. In 1959, Royal and Irene and their three daughters moved from Kansas to Washington and homesteaded a farm in the Columbia Basin. In 1989, he and Irene retired, sold the farm, and moved to Sequim. They spent most winters in Mazatlán, then later in Yuma, Arizona. Royal enjoyed woodworking, and thoroughly enjoyed his bicycles. Royal spent his last years at a retirement facility in Sequim, where many residents commented on his kindness and dry sense of humor. Royal is preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Marguerite, Ruth, and Esther, as well as his wife, Irene. He is survived by his three daughters, Susan (Robert) Enyart, Linda Seal, and Mary Jane (Ian) Mackay, 4 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.
