Samuel C. Vickroy Sr.

Samuel C. Vickroy Sr., a devoted father, brother, and proud American, passed away September 22, 2025 at age 75 surrounded by loved ones in Miramar Beach, Florida.

Samuel was born in Salina, Kansas to Carl and Elizabeth Vickroy on December 08, 1949. He graduated from Tinley Park High School and Trevecca Nazarene University.

Much of Samuel’s life was devoted to entrepreneurial pursuits wherein he developed numerous devices and managed various businesses including SCV Quality Solutions, LLC. He utilized his military training and education while engaging in government contract work for various organizations. He retired as a Systems Engineer for Ratheon’s Missiles and Defense department. Throughout his life, he received numerous honors and awards for his service as a veteran and contributions to his community. He enjoyed many years playing tennis as a member of Huntsville Athletic Club and lifelong member of the United States Tennis Association (USTA).

Samuel grew up with strong family values and a deep sense of duty. As a veteran, he bravely served his country during the Vietnam War, where he was combat wounded and honored with the Purple Heart for his sacrifice and courage.

Samuel was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Newton and Elizabeth Knopp Vickroy and brothers Carl Vickroy, Michael Vickroy, and John Vickroy.

Samuel is survived by his only son, Samuel Vickroy Jr (Stacie) of Freeport, Florida; sister Ursula Swanson of Freeport, FL; brother Richard Vickroy (Ann) of Crossville, TN; along with extended family and countless friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Samuel’s life was defined by resilience, honor, and love for his family and God. He will be remembered not only for his service and sacrifice but also for his unwavering dedication as a father, brother, and friend.

A service to honor and celebrate Samuel’s life will be held on November 15th at 11 a.m. at Church of the Highlands, 330 Nance Road in Madison, Alabama.
