Sandra "Sandy" Kay Butler, 78, was heavenly bound on August 12, 2020 from Austin, Texas after a long battle with lung disease. A "Celebration of Life" will take place on the weekend of her 79th birthday in 2021!
Sandy was born in Clifton, Texas on April 8, 1942, to Polly (nee Kitching) and Cleo Jeanes. She had one brother, Gordon Clay Jeanes. Sandy was raised in Houston, Texas and graduated in 1960 from Jefferson Davis High School and started a family.
Sandy worked for IBM for many years in Houston and Midland Texas in the 60's, 70's and 80's. In the 90's she worked at the Gerson Institute in San Diego and in early 2000 she worked for Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. Sandy traveled extensively with her husband Tom both domestically and internationally before settling in Austin, Texas to enjoy retirement and to be near family.
Sandy loved shopping to decorate her homes and making jewelry for family and friends. She loved all new trends for skincare and make-up and she always looked like a million bucks, no matter the occasion. On any given day you could find Sandy bowling, golfing, motorcycling or traveling in the RV to cooler destinations.
Sandy is survived by her husband of 48 years, Tom Butler; four children; Kimberly Peete, Phyllis Ekdall (Mike), Edward Peete (Kristin), Paige Butler (Lisa); 14 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She was formerly married to Edward Oliver Peete Jr. of Houston, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a "tribute gift" to the American Lung Association, in memory of Sandra Butler. Please send your gift notification to: Tom Butler, 736 Nelson Ranch Rd., Cedar Park, TX 78613
