Shirley May Mack

Shirley May Mack, at the age of 84, passed away at her home in Puyallup, Washington on May 3, 2019 after her battle with cancer.
Shirley May Farmer was born on August 29, 1934 to Henry and Bess Farmer in London, England. She was their only child, and because of her blonde curls, she was named after Shirley Temple. World War II took place during Shirley's childhood and her father was in the Royal Artillery. Shirley often enjoyed telling stories about her experience as a young girl during the war and how their home narrowly survived bombings and air raids over their community.
Shirley attended Timbercroft School and Plumstead Manor Secondary School just outside of London in the small town of Plumstead.
After her schooling, she went to work in the office of a film studio at age fourteen. She then went to work at Siemens, a company that made airplane parts. There, she met John Mack, a fellow co-worker. They eventually married in 1957 and had two daughters.

John worked at Siemens Company until 1959, then a couple other companies, until he found new employment overseas. He moved the family across the Atlantic to Detroit, Michigan. Several years later, the family moved to Laguna Beach, California in 1969 where she remained for 37 years.
Her daughters married and started families of their own, both had moved to Washington State and later, she decided to make the move north to WA in August of 2007, to be close to family. She
loved being closer to her girls and enjoyed more time with all her grandchildren!
Shirley is survived by her (long time separated) husband, John, two daughters: Karen and Tracey, and their husbands Ken and Ron; her grandchildren, Kristen (Terrance), Karie (Matt), Kaylee (Danny), Ben (Ashlyn), Katie (Taylor), and Andrew;
as well as her great-grandchildren, Amaiyah, Jayden and Averie.

Besides spending time with family and friends, Shirley had a passion for animals, especially cats, loved taking walks, baking, knitting, music and enjoying a cup of tea with just about anyone especially her daughters. She had a bright and energetic attitude and will be greatly missed by the many lives she touched over the years.

Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, June 23rd, 2019, at 2:45 pm at Willow Gardens in Puyallup.
