Stephen Kenneth Meitzler was born February 15, 1942, and graduated from this life May 18, 2024, in Puyallup, Washington, aged 82. He was the son of Theodore Canfield Meitzler and Virginia (née Cornett, Feller) Claussen Meitzler. He is survived by his wife, Judith (née Abendroth) Felty Meitzler; one brother, Leland K Meitzler (Patty) of Orting, Washington; Four children, Chloe Neubert (Thom) of Valley View, Alberta, Canada; Lynelle Summers of Bakersfield, California; Stephen Kenneth II (Christina) of Tacoma, Washington; and Myron (Melissa) of Forest Lake, Queensland, Australia; Four stepchildren, Robin Wofford of Elma, Washington; Jonathan Felty of Warm Lake, Idaho; Kathy (née Felty) Torres (Tony) of Marsing, Idaho, and Benjamin Felty (Jonica) of Nampa, Idaho. Also surviving is his first wife, Shirley (née Garrett) Meitzler, as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Steve is predeceased by his parents, and three older half-siblings, namely a half-brother, Neil Clausen Meitzler, and two half-sisters, Erma (née Clausen Meitzler) Lamb; and Beverly (née Clausen Meitzler) Hubbard; and one grandson, Titus Dietmar Neubert, and his second wife, Ylvelyn (née Copeland) Meitzler.
Steve enjoyed being self-employed his entire life; first as a drywall installer and finisher, often working with his brother, Leland and his son, Ken. Halfway to where most men would have retired, he changed careers, and took up printing – first principally magazines, and later books. Steve was still doing this on a part-time basis at the time of his demise.
Favorite pastimes and hobbies during his life were mountain climbing and square dancing. At the age of 62, he discovered his love of singing, and joined the TotemAires Barbershop Chorus. At the time of his passing, he was a member of the Jubilee Gospel Ensemble.
A memorial is planned for 1 pm, July 13, 2024, at the Church of the Nazarene, located at 2501 Warner Ave, in Enumclaw, Washington.
