Stephen J. Tatrai, born March 28, 1946, in Honolulu, Hawaii, died on September 10, 2026. A longtime resident of Laveen, Arizona, he was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and a retiree of Southwest Gas Corporation.

Steve was an avid DIY'er throughout his life. He occupied his time building and renovating his own homes, gardening, and working on woodworking projects both large and small. Over the years, he also served as a volunteer firefighter, a missionary, a clown, and a member of a singing quartet. In his later years, he enjoyed playing music for others in his community; he kept an extensive record collection and appreciated a Johnny Mathis song or two.

Steve was married to Suzanne from 1968 until her death in 1997, and during those years, they built a life and family together. He is survived by their children, Iolani "Lani" (Keith) and Stephen "Jamie" (Jennifer); their granddaughters Elise, Anna, Courtney, Emma, and Abigail; their great-grandson, Wells; and his sister, Patricia. He was preceded in death by his brother, Terry. He is also survived by his second wife, Honolu, with whom he later shared a period of his life.
