Steve was very fond of volunteering his time for any cause. The 52 years he lived in Arlington, Washington he was a volunteer fireman and an EMT for the hospital ambulance service. He served on the Frontier Days Committee as well as the Pioneer Hall Committee. We moved to Mount Vernon in November of 1999 and when he retired from Nordic Tugs 10 years ago he couldn't just sit around. So he promptly signed up with Meals on Wheels, the Mount Vernon Senior Center Advisory Board, and Skagit Council on Aging. He worked for approximately 20 years at Bayliner Marine Corporation in Arlington. As well as Mirage Marine, General Marine and Nordic Tug. He majored in Automotive Technology at Skagit Valley College and was a godsend whenever one of the cars in the family needed fixing.
He is very much loved and missed by his wife of 51 years, Linda. He is also survived by his daughter, Sonya Lohr, and his son Aaron Burns. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. Jaimee Lohr(Dalton), Joella Lohr, Jerrin Lohr (wife Michelle), and Ian Hodge. Every Saturday he prepared a family meal that kept us all caught up on what was going on in our lives.
Steve was preceeded in death by his father, Arnold Burns, and his mother Doris Burns.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
