On August 28, 2023, Steven Maes passed away peacefully at home and went home to be with the Lord.
Steve was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many.
Steve graduated from Barstow High School in 1971. After graduation, Steve worked for Santa Fe Railway and then explored truck driving before working for and retiring from Fort Irwin.
Steve was well known for his love of music. He played guitar for many local bands throughout his lifetime. He loved spending time in his garage creating and making things for his loved ones and making Raiders memorabilia. He was well known for his love of sweets, hot chili, making people laugh with his subtle humor, and always helping anyone in need. He was an expert at fixing almost anything, and loved to be on the go and with his family.
Steve is preceded in death by his parents, Melcor Jr. and Odelia Maes.
Steve is survived by his wife, Maria Acosta Maes, daughters Melinda (Douglas) Samuel, April (Jaime) Olvera, Anissa (Kyle) Ostrander, Adriana (Michael) Chacon, Natasha Santini, son, Alejandro Rodriguez, sisters Rose Licata, Diane Saiz, seventeen granddaughters, ten grandsons, seventeen great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and many friends.
A celebration of life will be held at the Knights of Columbus, 580 Victor St, Barstow, CA on Saturday, October 7th, from 2PM-6PM.
