Suzy was such an amazing mother, wife, sister, daughter, and friend. Her first priority was her family, and especially her children, Amanda and Kevin. Suzy was so proud of her kids throughout their entire lives, from academic and sports achievements, to careers and starting families of their own.

She was overjoyed to be a Grandma to her beautiful granddaughter Clark. She was so excited to play with Clark, share games and stories, or sew a Christmas stocking or clothes for her. And Clark would always bring the biggest smile to Suzy's face.

Suzy brought joy and happiness to so many, and was always up for a new adventure. Even while undergoing cancer treatments, Suzy would take the time to give a compliment or kind word to the medical staff, nurses, and doctors, and would help brighten their day. She loved taking on new challenges like scuba diving, sky diving, motorcycle riding, or the biggest roller coaster she could find.

Each of us has our own memories of how much Suzy impacted, inspired and enriched our lives. She had a life well lived that was full of love and joy.

Suzy fought a tremendous battle for six and a half years against pancreatic cancer, and then lung cancer. She was very involved with the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network and spoke to her Congressman several times about the importance of funding for cancer research.

Suzy is survived by her husband, Perry Swenson, daughter, Amanda Swenson and granddaughter Clark, son, Kevin Swenson, brother, Steve Phelps, and sister, Anna-Marie Phelps. We are all so fortunate to have known Suzy, and our lives are richer and fuller because of her.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to help advance research for fighting pancreatic cancer:
