Sylvia Mae Cullens

SYLVIA MAE CULLENS, age 82, loving wife, mother and caregiver, surrounded by her family, passed away peacefully to her heavenly reward October 2, 2024. She was born at home October 28,1941 in Aguilar, Colorado, the youngest daughter of the late Theresa A. Piazza and Salvador Piazza. Her grandson, Nicholas Cullens also proceeded her in death. 

Sylvia was married June 26,1965 to Philip Gaylord Cullens. She was a longtime resident of Arlington and a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. She left her nursing career to raise her family. She had been active in PTO and later in volunteering with the ACPAAA (Arlington Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association). 

She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Denise L Gwaltney; two sons, Philip Garret and Heath A; seven grandchildren; Chloe Polly, Dawn Olson, Devon Olson, Philip G. II, Alexandria Cruz, Dylan Gwaltney and Austin Gwaltney; three great-grandchildren, Jack Polly, Henry Polly, and Draxton Gwaltney. 

A Celebration of Her Life service will be held at 11:00 April 5, 2025 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 4400 W Arkansas Ln. with a reception following.
