Tammy Ann Broad Chitwood went to be with the Lord on August 7, 2025, at the age of 62 in her home in Blue Ridge, TX. She was born on December 9, 1962, in Des Moines, IA to John and Judy Broad. A free spirit from the moment she was born. Traveling with her family, studying her Bible, painting, and crafting were her favorite pastimes. Tammy was the foundation of a beautifully blended family that was created with her soulmate, Brian 'Keith' Chitwood. The two married on September 9, 1999, after being friends for many years. Together they hiked countless trails and traveled to many states. Her heart was never far from her children and grandkids, she showed for up for them in ways big and small, no matter the distance.
As a kid, Tammy attended Visitation Catholic School. She and Keith convalidated their marriage in the Saint Patrick Catholic Church on May 29, 2025, after 25 years of marriage. She worked at H&R Block for 15+ years and Cattleman's Cafe for 8 years. Happily, she served as the 'Team Mom' for the Sam Houston Colts football team for 3 years, alongside Keith, who coached.
Tammy is survived by her beloved husband, Brian 'Keith' Chitwood; her beloved children, Lyndsay (Bryan) Ellsworth, Joseph (Leah) Lester, Taylor (Lane) Beck, Dylan Chitwood, Jacqualine (Brian) Byrne, Brian Chitwood II; her grandchildren, William Broad, Justin Ellsworth, Kristopher Byrne, Dakota Ellsworth, Aven Fusselman, Joseph Lester, Zariah Lollis, Gia Byrne, Brian Chitwood III, Liam Beck, Luca Lester, Gia Lester; Her father, John (Thommy) Broad; her siblings Randall Broad, Teresa (Patrick) Lister, Melissa Gwin; many nieces, nephews, and friends. Tammy is preceded by her mother, Judy Broad, her son by heart, John Ellsworth, her father-in-law, Roy Chitwood, and her beloved grandparents.
Tammy's service is being held in the Saint Patrick Catholic Church (314 N. Rusk Ave Denison, TX 75020), on September 11, 2025. Starting with the Rosary at 9:30 AM and service at 10 AM, following after with the burial at the Cavalry Catholic Cemetery in Denson, TX. There will be a celebration of life to share memories and snacks at the Blue Ridge Community Center (200 W. Tilton St. Blue Ridge, TX 75424), between 2 PM and 6 PM.
