"I look at the world
And I notice it's turning While my guitar gently weeps
(With) every mistake We must surely be learning
Still my guitar gently weeps" --George Harrison
TOM BURNS
Tom Burns, a man of amazing intrigue, creativity, intelligence, talent, humor and above all, a wonderful giving and loving heart.
Tom loved life, he loved Monterey, he loved making music, writing, laughing, and learning about himself and life.
Tom was my husband and my very best friend. We had a wonderful 17+ years together and we had a lot of fun.
Tom loved Real Estate and taking care of people, he was in Real Estate on the Monterey Peninsula for over 30 years. His company Performance Realty Group made so many people happy. His clients came back to him year after year for his help when they were ready to sell or buy, that is the sign of an exemplary broker.
Tom was constantly searching to learn more about life and who he was. He was a devotee of self introspection and self realization. He had just been getting into Transcendental Meditation and that made him very happy.
Tom was a gifted writer, his writing was so unique, his sense of humor was refreshingly "different". There were times when I would ask him, "you don't actually say that in public do you?" He loved to leave people scratching their heads, and then they would finally "get it" and they would always laugh.
Tom had an amazing relationship with his dad Jim and his brother John. When the three of them would get together, watch out. You never knew what was going to happen. They had a lot of fun.
To say that Tom was special is an understatement. To say that Tom was unforgettable, another understatement. Tom leaves behind him a lot of friends, a lot of people who admired and respected him as he did them. He lived by the golden rule and he adhered to it in business and in life.
The world is a lot dimmer now that Tom's light has gone out. We can keep Tom alive by sharing stories about him and his antics.
He will be sadly, sadly missed.
Gone but never forgotten, I will always love you Bunny Bear.
Tom is survived by his wife Maggie, his brother John, his sister in law Lissa and their four daughters Danielle her daughter, Saundra her son Jack and Heather and Heidi.
Rest peacefully sweet Tom. You are now one with the Universe, again.
