Thomas James Reidy

Tom was born in New York City, New York and was raised in Jersey City. He joined the Air Force in 1983, and while serving he received several awards including the Humanitarian Service Medal and Air Force Outstanding Unit Award. When Tom was stationed in Cheyenne, Wyoming he met the love of his life, Jane. Tom and his wife built a good life together and moved to the Seattle, Washington suburbs. There Tom worked as a Supervisor in the Freight Industry for over 20 years. In the year 1998 Tom and Jane, not only received news of her having terminal cancer, but Tom was in a horrific swimming accident that left him a quadriplegic.

While facing so many traumatic events that were life changing for Tom, he would never let it defeat him. As a very strong advocate for himself dealing with the daily challenges he faced, he always would strive to pave a better path for his quality of life, and for those that also face disabilities. Tom continued his higher education and engaged in pubic speaking, being active with several support groups. He was sending his message with great passion to help with the needed awareness to others, emphasizing safety and training that would help the disabled be more independent and enhance their quality of life.

Tom was an only child with his passing preceded by his wife Jane, and his loving mother, Margaret Hannon. Anyone that knew Tom could not walk away without feeling so much respect for his positive mindset and admiration for his compassion and love of life. He enjoyed his friends, music, concerts, movies and car shows on a regular basis, with weather permitting. Tom also had a true appreciation for crafted beer and indulging in good food.

We will miss our loyal and good friend so very much.
