Vera Evans

Born as Vera Daily in Pettigrew, Arkansas, she moved with her family to Fullerton when she was two years old. A few years later, the family moved to Bell Gardens where Vera attended elementary through high school and graduated from Bell Gardens High. She met and married John Evans and they moved to Downey in 1964 with their three daughters. Vera was a stay-at-home mom and could be found volunteering at Imperial Elementary School as the Parents Club President, Ways and Means Chair, as a Brownie & Girl Scout leader, in the library, after school snack sales, carnivals, and so much more. Her family was her pride and joy, and this gift of her time continued later in life as she was always present for special occasions, important events, and for all milestones of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. John started working for Fluor Corporation in the late 1970's in Saudi Arabia and as her daughters grew up and finished high school, she joined him there until the mid 1980's when the first three grandchildren were born. They traveled extensively and her favorite trip was to Malta. She went to work with Wells Fargo Bank and then the County of Los Angeles where she retired after serving 25 years. She was known for her quick wit, great sense of humor, and the unique ability to make each person feel special to her. Her friends were considered family, as well as the friends of her children and grandchildren. She passed peacefully on Friday, May 23rd surrounded by family and friends. She is survived by her three daughters, Angel (& Ron) Kellogg, Melody (& Charles) Gregorio, and Norma Evans; her five grandchildren, Jonathan Kellogg, Lauren (& Akash) Banad, Adam (& Vasty) Kellogg, Emily (& Lancelot) Dyke, and Evan Gregorio; and her four great-grandchildren, Troy & Amanda Kellogg and Kirin & Jaiden Banad. A celebration of life will be held in her honor on Saturday, June 28th, at 11:30 AM at the Florence Avenue Foursquare Church Fellowship Hall in Santa Fe Springs.
